lyrics

It’s a thin line tonight between fake and able
And I see her spill her drink a little as she sits up straight
She says, “remember when one wrong move was fatal?
Out in the corner of this lot with these Texas plates?”
Either way, I know she’s not doing anything wrong
She’s only trying to write a love song

And if her longing makes me unstable,
makes me think back on a time when I made mistakes,
When I would come around back to clear the crumbs from your table,
Sleep in the corner of the lot with the Texas plates
And to this day, I know I didn’t do anything wrong
I was only trying to write a love song

There’s only ever been one way to keep my attention
There’s only ever been one way to say “not like this”
So I believe her when she says that it’s not her intention
as she finishes a smoke we were supposed to split out in the corner of the lot of the Best Western
We’re not doing anything wrong
We’re only trying to listen to love songs

about

Brewster New Jersey

Brewster's 'Honey Shake Me' is an album of transit, a collection of highway songs - there's a "welcome to" state sign at every track break. White lines and stop signs beating a steady rhythm as the nation metls and warps, like a vinyl copy of "This Land is Your Land" left on the dashboard.

They're a stone-cold, wide-armed band, welcoming any and all twangy, emotive music to gather under the tent.
